Welcome
You are invited to the fourth scientific day of the ITI HiFunMat, which will take place on the Illberg campus of the University of Haute-Alsace, in Mulhouse.
This one-day conference is designed to (re)introduce participants to the broad scientific themes of the ITI, encompassing the development of the next generation of materials with applications in health, environment, and energy. The event aims to foster scientific exchanges among all ITI HiFunMat members, catalyzing the emergence of new collaborations, projects, and innovative ideas.

The HiFunMat Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute is committed to advancing the development of next-generation materials. Our research spans the synthesis of fundamental building blocks, their assembly into complex two- and three-dimensional structures, the study and fine-tuning of their properties, interactions with light, and the emulation of natural materials.
Given the inherently interdisciplinary nature of materials research, our research projects are inherently interdisciplinary as well. HiFunMat brings together experts from diverse fields to design, develop, and characterize novel materials. Curious about how our research is structured? Visit our research page to learn more.
About the conference
This conference provides HiFunMat members with an invaluable opportunity to explore the wide range of research topics covered within the consortium. It serves as a key platform for initiating new collaborations and projects that can be supported by HiFunMat, including PhD, seed money and starting grants.
This year's program features short talks from BASF, Saint-Gobain Research, and the Cluster of Excellence Living, Adaptive, and Energy-Autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS) from Freiburg. The agenda also includes presentations from invited HiFunMat members and a roundtable discussion on microscopy techniques and material characterization.
Additionally, we invite participants to contribute through oral presentations showcasing their team’s research. Presentations of your team's research themes in the form of posters are also strongly encouraged. Large poster slots have been reserved in the program to encourage broad participation.
We look forward to insightful discussions and new collaborations at this year’s event!
