The Egal'ITI committee, composed of 14 researchers from the 9 HiFunMat laboratories, has two major objectives:
- To promote ITI HiFunMat and science in general, among scientists and the general public
- To promote equality/parity in science
Promoting science
The first point leads us, in particular, to organise interventions in primary, secondary and high schools, and to participate in scientific vulgarisation actions (Fête de la Science, etc.). To find out more about this visit the Outreach page.
We also collect profiles of alumni, former students with a similar background to that offered by ITI HiFunMat. We use these profiles to show the interest and added value of our training program for a succesfull career in academia or industry. You can visit the alumni profile on the Alumni page.
Promoting equality / parity
Our aim is to carry out different actions in order to change mentalities regarding equality and parity in a natural way, without making people feel guilty. For this, we propose the following actions:
- Support the career development of young male and female researchers and help them build their dossiers for prizes such as L'Oréal, JC SCF prize, etc..
- Involve women from different research fields in conferences to promote their research
- Promote equality in science during various regional (HiFunMat summer school), national or international events (IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast)
- Set up a mentoring system between young researchers (master, PhD, first years of recruitment) and more experienced HiFunMat members
